The Work Skills Series at the Racine Literacy Council is a series to help students and job seekers obtain the reading, writing and math skills used in today’s workforce. This three-course series uses real on the job situations to contextualize the academic skills needed to succeed in the workplace. Our Work Wise students are placed into a small class setting both in person and/or virtually for 90 minutes a week.
Please note, while the RLC does not diagnose learning or reading disabilities, we do our best to accommodate students with the resources we have. Many times, our students lack phonemic awareness skills, the understanding of each letter and their sounds, which may result in teaching them the foundational literacy skills they did not master previously during their childhood. If additional support is needed, a tutor may be assigned to better assist your needs.
