Nancy Margis - President
Nancy Margis has built her career around literacy and is a lifelong Racine resident. She is currently an elementary educator in the Racine Unified School District. She received a bachelor’s degree in education form The University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, and later earned her master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. The third generation educator was honored by Phi Delta Kappa as an Outstanding Educator and was named an Encore award winner by RUSD. Nancy believes that the Racine Literacy Council serves a real need in Racine and proud to help with their mission. In her free time, Nancy enjoys reading, singing, traveling and spending time with her family.
Anna Samson - Vice-President
Received her MA in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology at the University of New Haven in 2009. She moved to Wisconsin in 2013 and is currently working at CREE. She also is a Tupperware consultant and enjoys getting out and meeting people at her parties. She currently serves on the Board of Directors at RLC as the Secretary and is part of the Personnel and Fund Development Committees. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and loves reading.
Mary Biesack - Treasurer
Education & Employment – MBA from UW-Parkside and Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Employed at Johnson Outdoors Inc. as a Senior Tax Analyst
Committees – Finance, Program and Personnel.
Personal – Lifelong Racine resident and my hobby is reading.
DeBorAh Wiltsey- Secretary
DeBorAh Wiltsey has continuously served on various boards since 1980, in positions from committee chair to president, to executive director. She enjoys sharing her time and talents with causes that are near and dear to her heart. An Oshkosh native, De moved to Racine in 1987 and owned and operated Camera Masters Portrait Studio for 25 years. In 2008, De accepted a position at S. C. Johnson & Son and is currently the Executive Assistant in SCJ's IT department. In her spare time, De enjoys glass fusing, traveling, gardening and cheering on the Packers.

Atif Taj has an undergraduate degree from University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and a graduate degree from University of Wisconsin Madison. He works at Johnson Outdoors as a Senior Analyst. He has been associated with Racine Literacy Council since 2016 and serves in two committees: Finance Committee, Governance and Nomination Committee. He is new father of 10 months old boy and his present activities revolve around him.
Fawn Funderburg has been a Racine Literacy Council board member since 2015. She is a native Chicagoan who has been married for 25 years to Wendell, the love of her life as well as the proud parent of Wendell II. Fawn is employed by Gateway Technical College as the lead instructor in the Adult Education Center at Racine Workforce Solutions. She is also the CEO and founder of SAVVY School of Character and Personal Development. SAVVY provides training for youth and teens and is a Racine Unified School District contract provider for the after school program. Fawn enjoys spending time with friends and family, shopping, and cooking.
Rosie Maple is a long time resident of Mount Pleasant, Wi where she worked for the Johnson Wax family of companies for over 20 years. Rosie received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Communications from Alverno College and went on to receive a Master of Science in Business Management from Cardinal Stritch University where she served as an adjunct faculty member for six years. Her passion for education and concern for her community led her to become a Board Member. Her hobbies include decorating, reading and spending time with her family.
My background consists of an Accounting Degree from the University of South Dakota and Master of Management from Cardinal Stritch University. I have also been a licensed Certified Public Accountant since 1975 and been married for 45 years to Sandra, my best friend. Presently a senior lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Hobbies are reading, especially historical books at the present, gardening and odd jobs around the house.
Eric L. Hopkins is an educator currently engaged in doctoral studies at National Louis. Previously he earned a BA in Political Science at Marquette University, and Masters in School Administration at Carthage College. Eric has been a RLC Board Member since 2014. He enjoys singing in his free time, and spending time with his wife and 3 kids.
Born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin. Graduated from Marquette University Law School. Practice is focused on business and creditor/debtor law, tax law and litigation issues. Eric serves as the Racine County Bar Association Board of Governors as its Treasurer and Treasurer of the Racine/Kenosha Tax and Accounting Professionals. Eric is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court and the Wisconsin Tax Appeals Commission.
