Opening the Door to Education

Becoming a Tutor

Beginning in February 2016, training opportunities will be offered at the end of each month between February and November. New tutors will be asked to do the following:

                1. Complete registration forms

                2. Complete brief online orientation

                3. View an online overview on adult tutoring along with an RLC specific training

                4. Shadow (observe) a seasoned tutor to get a better understanding of what the actual tutoring experience is like

                5. Meet with a staff member or Tutor Trainer for a face-to-face training session

A few months after the training, new tutors will have the opportunity to attend in-services and training sessions to help further develop their skills as tutors.

Note: Training can be done on any computer with internet access. If you have limited computer skills or do not have a computer, you may make arrangements to complete the online portion of the training at RLC.
